EBC Meetings and Programs
EBC meets at 7:30 PM on the third Tuesday of every month in the
Ecology Center at the Ladd Arboretum, McCormick and Bridge Streets, Evanston
7/17- 7:30 PM The North Branch Trail Alliance
The North Branch Trail Alliance (NBTA) of Greater Chicago was founded in early 2017 based on a vision of increasing interest and awareness around biking along the expanding North Branch trail.  As a group of community leaders they are working to connect bicyclists with the neighborhoods and business along the trail with a series of bike rides and outreach efforts.  The NBTA leadership team recently received the Active Transportation Alliance’s Advocate of the Year Award.   Since many EBC club rides travel on the North Branch Trail this will be an opportunity to meet these innovative community leaders and learn about their economic development efforts along the trail for communities from Albany Park to Glenview, and all points in-between.
8/21- 7:30 PM Antique Bicycles by Carey Williams
Carey Williams is the National Captain of The Wheelmen, an international group dedicated to the research, preservation, collecting and riding of antique bicycles from 1931 and before. The organization seeks to preserve early bicycles, many of which were instrumental in The Good Roads Movement from which America has benefited to this day, and encourages cycling as a part of modern living. Carey will share the history of early bicycles and will bring an old bicycle to the presentation.
Eat Before We Meet
Both members and guests are invited to join club members for an informal dinner before club meetings at 6:00 PM at Dengeos, located on the southwest corner of Main and McCormick.
