Author Last Post

Good afternoon,
LakeShore Ski and Sport Club is planning a Bike the Barge trip to Germany in August of 2021. They have now opened up this trip to non-members and LSSC is extending an invitation to the EBC. I have registered to go on this trip and hope some of you can join us. I believe their are 7 openings available. All the information is listed below. Once I registered, I purchased my own travel insurance, CFAR (cancel for any reason). I learned that this must be done withing 14 to 21 days of registration. Should you have any questions, please send them to Andrew Kirby "ackpublic@yahoo.com". Hope to see you in Saarburg, Connie

Rhine and the Bavarian Main rivers. Bike along the Moselle river on good bike paths - Explore the cities of Trier, Koblenz, Mainz & Frankfurt - Visit little Venice Saarburg, black cat’ town Zell, old Bernkastel-Kues and charming Beilstein. Enjoy an included wine tasting at the well-known winery Storck.

Average biking distance 12 to 28 miles per day (20 to 45 km).

Here is a detailed itinerary: Four German River Tours

Note on E-Bikes:
A limited number of e-bikes will be available for reservation for an additional 30E. Please note: The bike path is primarily along a river and therefore relatively flat. So unless you have a specific health concern or issue, e-bikes may not be necessary. Payment for the e-bike will be calculated in your final payment.

Note On Exchange Rates: the final price will be adjusted for any change in the cost of the trip resulting from an increase (or decrease) in the exchange rate, as well as any change in the cost of an e-bike rental, if you select that add-on.

Note on Minimum Registrations:: We will need a minimum of 21 paid registrations by August 15th. for the trip to proceed. If the trip is cancelled because of too few sign-ups or if you choose or need to cancel before August 15th, your deposit will be fully refunded. After August 15th, the Club will not be able to refund your deposit or any other money’s paid thereafter.

Note on Trip Insurance: While “all cause” trip insurance that covers cancellation due to CV-19 would be highly recommended, we have not found such a policy so far. However, there is "Cancellation for Any Reason" Insurance that would ;provide coverage at a higher price point.  If your research finds better options, could you please share this information with the trip leader.
