Weather permitting we take our first 2025 venture to the area in Chicago known as Malt Row, known for its abundance of breweries.
If a weather cancellation is necessary, I'll let everyone know before 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning. If the weather is acceptable, our ride will be a touch under 24 miles, and will depart Chandler at 11:10 promptly.
This is the first biweekly brewpub ride that does not actually arrive at a brewpub. I have planned a stop on the route for those who wish to purchase food, and you are also welcome to bring whatever you'd like to eat to either of the breweries we will visit.
Dining Notes: Our stop is at L&M Finer Foods, at 4363 North Lincoln Ave, to pick up provisions. Sandwiches and other alternatives look quite promising. ( I will almost certainly try the half muffuletta. ) The menu is available here: Food & Drink Menu — L&M Fine Foods

Beer Notes: We will visit two breweries, within a city block of one another, on Ravenswood. We will collectively decide which brewery we want
to actually stop at for lunch (majority vote rules) but I intend to visit both taprooms for beer tasting. Both allow for outside food,
and have both indoor and outdoor seating. Both also offer tasting portions, or 5 ounce pours, and if interested, both sell 4 and 6 packs on premises.
The breweries are:
Dovetail Brewery: Dovetail is a specialist in German style beers. Their beer lineup is similar to Double Clutch in Evanston. I personally recommend their KÖLSCH and their HELLES as excellent examples of the kind of beer you'd get at a German brauhaus. A complete list is available here: Our Beers — Dovetail Brewery

Begyle Brewing: Begyle is a beer generalist; they brew beers that follow German traditions, but also brew beers in varied international and modern styles using a wide variety of hops. I tasted several beers during my preview ride, and can highly recommend their flagship Blonde Ale, brewed with honey as an adjunct. There is also a fascinating tangerine sour that elicited the comment "it isn't beer, but it is really good tangerine soda for adults!" There are a few glitches in this routing, but it is sufficient to illustrate our intended ride.
I hope the weather is good, and I'll see you enthusiastic beer folks on Friday!
