I am pleased to announce that we received our permit to host a "Meet Up" for all of us who support an Honorary Street Sign for Major Taylor in Garfield Park where he raced.
DATE: Saturday, June 27, 2026
TIME: 10:00 a.m.
LOCATION: Near the Bandshell on Music Court on the Westside of the Park ( a more detailed location will be sent out next week).
PROGRAM: ALL Clubs & Trail Leaders are welcome to appoint someone to offer remarks. Just reply to this email and let us know who that will be as we build the program.
FLYER: We will work on a flyer and get it out to you ASAP.
TENTS: If your organization has a tent with your name on it and you want to distribute merchandise at no costs, just let us know.
This is the "First Stop" in our initiative to get Major Taylor Honorary Street Signs everywhere he has raced in this country. We are already working on getting him an Honorary Street Sign in Peoria, IL (more on this later).
Let's "Popout and Show" the City and the Park District how much we love and honor Major by having a big turnout and demonstrating why he deserves this honor as a monument and reminder of where he raced in Chicago.
