Tuesday Moderate Ride -- August 18th -- 9:00 AM -- Panera
I am going to arbitrarily alter the schedule of Tuesday Moderate Rides. Rather than going to Forest Home Cemetery as called for in the online schedule this week, I am going to substitute the ride to Lambs Farm, which was canceled last week because of the weather. My reason for this is primarily selfish. I’ve been to Forest Home Cemetery three times this summer. I did preview portions the Lambs Farm ride a few weeks back but only had time to ride through the parking lot. If I am perfectly honest, I’d just rather lunch at Lambs Farm than at Russell’s BBQ this week.
In any event, I will probably slip the Forest Home ride back into the schedule on one of the open dates in late September or October.
We will be going to Lambs Farm, by a somewhat circuitous route. Much of the route will be familiar, but we will use some less familiar streets in Deerfield to make the connection to this popular restaurant at the famed institution. Our total distance will be a tad more than 46 miles. I will ride at a moderate (13 – 15 mph) pace. With enough interest there will be a second slightly faster group led by Will. Service at Lambs Farm can be a little slow, so this might be the ride for you if you are in a hurry.
In contrast to last week, this week’s weather is promising: intervals of clouds and sunshine. A high temperature of 82 degrees, with winds from the WSW at 10 to 15 mph. If the actual weather should be very different from the predicted weather making it prudent to cancel the ride, I will post an announcement to the listserv before 7:30 AM on the day of the ride.
